The Samara Skirt in Carbon is a 100% silk bohemian skirt from VKELLER. Gathered at the waist with a flowing silhouette, falling below the knee. The piece is designed in Paris; the silk is woven in China; and hand-finished in Portugal. The Carbon colourway: a deep, true black with a subtle cool undertone. Reads as pure black in most lighting. The most versatile VKELLER colourway. Pairs with every neutral and every jewel tone; works as formal without reading austere.

Produced in a limited numbered series, available in French sizes FR 36 to 42. Designed to pair with any VKELLER top or a fine knit, for office-to-dinner wear, weekend brunches, and travel.

Origin Story

The Queens' Gown

This skirt was inspired by a 60s piece worn by Victor Keller's grandmother, the actress Jany Clair, in the peplum film 'Hercules Against the Moon Men' in 1964. She played the antagonist, La Reine de Samare (Queen Samara). This maxi skirt carries an ambivalence, a troubled elegance, yet powerful. In the film, La Reine de Samare betrays her own to ally with the Moon Men and become the most powerful woman in the world. Wear this elegance and power without ever letting it overshadow you.

The silhouette
Gathered at the natural waistline, flowing through the body of the skirt, falling above the ankle. Elastic-free waistband with a concealed side zip. Designed to sit cleanly under tucked-in tops.

Fit notes
Cut to French sizing, runs true in FR 36 to 42. Sits at the natural waistline. If between two sizes, size up for a looser fit through the waist. The model in studio images wears FR 38. For sizes outside FR 36–42, contact the house directly.

Sometimes a piece just needs a slight adjustment. Before initiating a return, our team can arrange an alteration for you, often the most elegant way to make a silhouette truly yours.

Returns are accepted within 14 days from the date of delivery, on items that are unworn, unaltered, and with all original tags attached. Return shipping is at the customer's expense, except for defective or non-conforming items, which we take care of.

Made-to-order pieces are non-refundable; we offer complimentary alterations to perfect the fit. Bespoke (sur-mesure) commissions are final sale, as each piece is produced exclusively for you following a validated prototype.

Q. Is the silk a blend?
A. No. 100% silk across the piece, including the double lining. No viscose, no polyester, no rayon.

Q. Can the Samara Skirt be worn in winter?
A. Yes. Silk regulates temperature: cool in summer, warm under a tailored coat in autumn and winter. Layer over a fine silk or cashmere base for colder months.

Q. How is it produced, and on what scale?
A. Numbered limited editions, ranging from one-off pieces to 20 numbered pieces, handmade in Portugal.
